As soon as the bottle is opened, a light floral fragrance hits the nose, accompanied by a tantalising honey note and a hint of coconut. This sweet freshness is quickly replaced by caramel, nuts and a light hint of hay and straw. A pleasant blend of bright fruits, such as a hint of apple or pear, and a mild coconut note create an inviting, almost tropical atmosphere.
The Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky shows its true strength on the palate: sweet, but not too overpowering, with caramel, vanilla and a mild, pleasant spiciness. You can taste gummy bears and a hint of rye. The texture is soft and almost creamy, with a subtle ‘vapour’ that does not overpower the whole.
The finish of the Nikka Coffey Grain is not long, but fresh and cereal-like.
